EAT! OUT Feast of Heritage – Dunston Staithes
Sunday, August 17th, 2014
It’s summertime so peel back the ceiling and strip away the walls – feel the sun on your back and feast as nature intended. Good food tastes better when eaten out so join in and share the best local produce cooked by some of our most talented chefs in iconic corners of this beautiful city. EAT! Festival have put together a series of outdoor dinners over the course of this summer, my job is Dunston Staithes!
Dunston Staiths was built in 1893 for loading North East coal directly onto ships, in September it will reopen to the public after a 30 year closure and a £1m restoration. The night includes a sneak VIP preview and a chance, quite literally, to consume the history, folklore and fabric of Europe’s largest wooden structure.
We have created a unique signature menu of dishes inspired by the story of the Staiths, past, present and future. Take your seat at a table set on the 600m long structure, high above the Tyne and experience Dunston Staiths on a plate.
Tickets are £39.50 and available through the EAT! Festival website
